Who should join Life2theMax?

Anyone aged between 11 & 16 will benefit from our unique programme and approach to equipping children with the knowledge, know-how and attitude for optimising their health and achieving the most in life.


Who will they learn from?

 

Carey Davis-Munro

Head Start 4 Health is the creation of Carey Davis-Munro. Carey is a fully qualified Teacher of Physical Education with qualifications in fitness and health instruction. More recently she has completed studies in nutrition.

For the past 4 years Carey has run her own business concentrating on the proactive management and support of health in corporates. When London won the bid for the 2012 Olympics, Carey felt it was the right time to launch something new for children in the lead up to the Games and to tackle the increasing health issues prevalent in the UK today using a completely different approach. Carey works both in schools implementing Healthy Schools programmes as well as overseeing everything comprising Life2theMax. She has three children.

Fitness and Exercise

There are only a handful of teachers in the country who have undergone the rigorous scrutiny and been awarded the Advanced Skills Teacher Status in Physical Education. At Headstart 4 Health we can boast that we have two of them.

 

Nick Heard - Director of Exercise

Nick has been teaching physical education in Secondary schools for the last 5 years having previously worked in the fitness industry as a gym manager and personal trainer. He has a degree in Exercise Physiology and an MA in Education. He has undertaken extensive research on the impact of physical activity on self-esteem and he currently also works as a P.E Teacher at Southfields Community Sports College, Wandsworth where he delivers P.E across the 3 key stages.

 

Simon Webster - Director of Exercise

Simon has been awarded the Excellent Teacher Status in Physical Education. He was one of the first 5 out of any subject to achieve this accolade. Simon has nearly 20 years teaching experience as a PE teacher, head of department and latterly head of year; in charge of students' learning and welfare and has also worked with the QCA, the governing body for education, to assist them in developing the new 11-14 curriculum He completed a masters degree in 2004 and has won a number of research scholarships aimed at improving PE teaching in the age group 11-19. He has also written two A level textbooks and has been involved assessing teachers and teaching teachers how to assess and teach both A level and GCSE PE. Among other things Simon is presently a mentor for Initial Teacher Trainees.

 

Food and Nutrition

 

Dr Caroline Longmore

Dr Longmore began her full career after studying as a paediatrician in France. After completing her studies, she worked as a medical doctor for Medecins sans Frontieres, travelling to areas in need such as Africa, Cambodia and Vietnam amongst others. On her return to Paris she then worked for Les Enfants Malades for 6 years (the Hospital equivalent of Great Ormond Street).

In the 80s she moved over to England and worked part-time in Great Ormond Street as she set up a multi-lingual Montessori Nursery School.

Various experiences during this time led to Caroline's passionate study of complementary medicine beginning with 3 years of Nutrition followed by studies in Chinese medicine for 4 years and acupuncture with 3 months spent in China and her studies in Naturopathy.

Caroline now manages an integrated clinic, combining Naturopathic therapies and Orthodox medicine.

Dr Carlyle Jenkins

Dr Carlyle Jenkins a registered Chiropractor and Performance Coach is director of Prohab, a performance consultancy based on the prestigious Harley St, London. Prohab delivers outstanding results with elite athletes, top executives, business leaders and young people.

At the core of its work is a determination and passion for identifying peoples talents and strengths and clearing any internal blocks that may limit their full expression. Prohab’s stress management interventions have been celebrated by the worlds elite athletes and business leaders as the most gentle, powerful and lasting care they have experienced.

With advanced training in all areas of performance and stress management Carlyle is equipped to assist with physical and mental emotional issues blocking true potential. Using cutting edge neuroscience and performance psychology research Carlyle co-developed a programme that identifies and nurture a child’s core peak state and the key stressors in their life that challenge that state. Then by giving them tools and techniques to master their attitude and health, enable them to reach and achieve their full potential from the inside out.
